My schedule tonight is kind of FUBAR, so here’s an excerpt from a poem cycle I’ve been working on for a while. Enjoy!
A sea of endless black, of points of light.
The night sky holds no familiar faces
Here. My sweet Virgo, where are you tonight?
Has your hunt led you to stranger places
Still, Orion, and what creatures dwell there?
Is your quarry stone like mine? This is a
Lifeless rock, a single mote floating where
Deep black waters meet a calm sandy bay.
This is Pluto’s dream kingdom, shadows and
Jewels, echoing laughter and whispered names.
A dark forest with no right path, but grand
Promises of wealth extracted with flames.
Alone with machines I go now to dream
Of warm stars and the cold places in between.
